Women in leadership and decision-making
LWF, WICAS involvement in establishing the process of strengthening and affirming Women in leadership and decision making emphasises on LWF`s principles of inclusivity. Various processes and actions are implemented in the global and regional level to which serve to ensure that women are empowered and supported to take up leadership positions.
The Seventh Assembly of the Lutheran World Federartion at Budapest has made a resolution that in the executive committee, council, all the other decision making committees and task forces at all regional levels shall be composed of at least 40 percent of women and at least 40 percent men. This decision has been made to emphasis on the full participation of women in the life of the church and of the LWF communion -as well as in society.
The main discussions in regional meetings and platforms are building on the following questions:
- How do we ensure women in leadership positions locally in member churches, regionally and globally in platform and decision making bodies?
- What are the necessary discussions we need to have in order to strategically uplift women in leadership positions in member churches, in regional bodies and platforms, as well as globally, in Council and other LWF structures?
