Advocacy training

The role of faith in promoting women’s human rights is the main focus of the  Advocacy training programme of WICAS (Women in Church and Society). This training is to addressed to women and men from FBOs engaged in advocacy or actively involved in programs designed with a gender justice approach, which is  vital to ensure substantial policy changes.

It is designed to enable participants to improve the effectiveness of their work by exploring local and global strategies and platforms and by becoming acquainted with UN mechanisms considered key to achieving substantial change in the legal frameworks and implementation in their respective countries.

Churches and other faith-based organizations, as members of civil society that include grassroot organizations, can play a significant role in this process if they are trained and supported. By developing meaningful partnerships, they are better able to hold their governments accountable.
