Pre- Assembly - Practical Information

The Women’s Pre-Assembly is a unique opportunity for women from the 145 countries where LWF has member churches and partners to meet and articulate a common voice to be taken to the Twelfth Assembly. In preparation to the Pre-Assembly, WICAS has come up with some practical informations.

Practical informations:

Who can participate?

  • Women delegates to the Twelfth Assembly
  • Women actively involved in the WICAS network
  • Namibian women designated by the organizer local committee
  • Visitors, ecumenical guests, advisors to the Twelfth Assembly

Dates and venue

The Twelfth Assembly and its Women’s pre-Assembly will be strongly marked by the hospitality and vibrant church life of Namibia. The Women’s pre-Assembly will run from 5 (arrivals) to 9 May 2017 in Windhoek.

The venue for this gathering will be the Arebbusch lodge: http://www.arebbusch.com/

If you are willing to take part to the Women’s pre-Assembly, you need to indicate this when you do your online registration, under the “Assembly” menu of the form.

Pre-Assembly program

The Women’s pre-Assembly program gathers the concerns and priorities collected at the regional pre-Assemblies. Two of these regional pre-Assemblies took place in 2016, but a couple of them are being held in January and February 2017. Once these are finalized we will be able to release a final program. For the time being, it is important to highlight what the participants can expect from the Women’s pre-Assembly in Namibia:

  • In a joyful atmosphere celebrate the milestones in gender justice and women in the ordained ministry over the past 6 years.
  • Strengthen your knowledge about the Assembly themes and analyze them through a feminist perspective.
  • Train in Assembly procedures.
  • Share and learn in a market place of experiences related to women’s human rights in different contexts.
  • Impact the way in which the Women in Church and Society program can better address the concerns of women in your context over the next years.
  • Shape the message to be taken from the women to the Twelfth Assembly.
